Great Windshield

I purchased this windshield to get a bit more wind protection over the stock shield. I am 5'9" and have a 35" inseam. I am shorter in the torso with longer legs. In the lowest position, I can see over this shield easily. When I'm pushing a head wind or in the cold I raise it all the way up and this gives me a great pocket of calm air to ride in. The shield is much taller and wider than stock and pushes the air flow up over my helmet and around my shoulders. I usually ride with my full face hetmet open, with just the flip down inner shield down and get no facial wind. I cut the seat down approx 1-1/2" on my '15 Kawsaki Versys 1000 to make it flatter so I wouldn't keep sliding forward. I then had to cut the shield down so I could again see over it on the lowest setting. I was a bit nervous because all the previous shields I had modified were polycarbonate (Lexan) and there was little worry about cracks or splitting. This Givi shield is not Lexan but plexiglass. It seems that a bunch of manufacturers are going away from Lexan to save costs. I just taped both sides of the shield to prevent the jig saw from scratching the surface and cut the shield with a new fine tooth blade. The cut turned out very well. This Givi shield has worked at better than I had hoped. PS: I just purchased a set of the Givi top loading panniers to replace the stock side loaders that came with the bike and the install and mounts went perfect. Nice bags, love the top loading...
